About West Bay Advent Christian Church
Vision of our Church
A relationship with Jesus Christ isn't as complicated as some make it out to be. We want to:
(1) love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength;
(2) love others the same way that Christ loved us;
(3) introduce people to Christ; and
(4) help people grow in their understanding and faithfulness to the Word.
Our purposes are to:
1) Worship - Love God "Show God we appreciate His Gifts to us." 2) Minister- Love everyone; yes, everyone "Treat people like we’d like to be treated." 3) Evangelize - Go into the community with Jesus Christ "Lead people to believe in Jesus Christ." 4) Fellowship - Welcome and encourage purpose & belonging "Help people fit in, feel loved, and find their purpose." 5) Disciple - Strive to teach and live mature, Biblical, and Christ-like lives "Talk the talk, walk the walk, and help others do the same."Our purposes are NOT to:
1) Love the things of the world, the lies of Satan, or put anything in front of our relationship with God 2) Condemn, judge, hold a grudge, or frown upon anyone because we’re all equal in God's eyes 3) Sit around and do nothing but go to church twice per week without reaching out to others 4) Think we're better than most people, that we're special, or that someone is unimportant 5) Be hypocritical or stop learning and teaching about Jesus' gift to us on the cross.History of West Bay ACC
West Bay ACC has been in West Bay since around 1900. The church originally had services in the West Bay schoolhouse that was located across the street to the west from the current facility. Names associated with the early roots of the church are Brother Butler, Brother Johnson who came to the area in a sailboat, Brother Preston Warren, the Buchanans, and the Rays. The church's strengths have always been in their people who love the Lord, their willingness to help people in need, and their desire to help others meet Christ and grow in their relationship with Him.
History of the Denomination
"ACC" stands for "Advent Christian Church." The word "advent" means "coming." Advent Christians believe, just like all Christians, that Christ will return to the earth for his church. This means that we have to be ready for His return and that we have to help others get ready, too. Like most major denominations, we believe that Jesus was the Son of God, that He died on the cross for our sins, that he was raised from the dead, Jesus now sits at the right hand of God the Father, and that He will one day return to judge between those who truly believe and those who do not. Let us help you be part of the group who truly believe. We have a packet we make available to anyone who would like more information about our denomination or joining the church. This packet includes our bylaws, covenant, and declaration of principles.
It's not about us - it's about YOU and Jesus!
Come visit us and get a feel for who we are, how we worship, how we can help you, and how you can serve the Lord. You’ll meet people who are probably a lot like you – outdoorsmen, business owners, students, homemakers, single parents, grandparents, etc. You’ll probably hear music and preaching a lot like you’ve heard before. But, you might find out that we do it in such a way that you feel comfortable, accepted, cared for, and encouraged to grow in your walk with Christ.Advent Christian Village at Dowling Park
